Hi there! I am so excited to teach your child! A little about me...
I am 31 years old and I live in Chicago. I love to cook and spend time with my family and my 6 nieces and nephews. This is my 9th year in the district. I spent my first year as a student teacher and substitute at Reed School. The next year I was lucky enough to be offered a job at Ludwig where I taught for 4 years. I then moved to teach at Walsh and this is my forth year in this classroom! I have my undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois University in Elementary Education and Special Education and my Graduate degree from Northeastern Illinois University where I received my Behavior Intervention Specialist and Curriculum Adaption Specialist degrees. I am currently going to Ball State University to receive my Board Certified Behavior Analyst certificate or BCBA. I believe in a strong home to school connection and will work hard to maintain a positive communication system between myself and your family! |
My classroom was so lucky to get sponsored by the District 92 Foundation to receive a minigrant in order to obtain flexible seating this year! Students have a choice of a ball, rocking, spring or traditional seating choice when working. We also have our bean bag and standing table options to choose from as well!
Seating is not the only option students have in my room. During Task Box time, students choose from their hanging charts a task box card associated with one of the boxes at our station. These boxes are modeled off of the TEACCH method which incorporates interactive activities that promote independence while supporting Common Core Standards and IEP goals.
